Today I've been reading about Anki cards and how to create them. I found it fascinating how Michael Nielsen uses them (https://michaelnielsen.org). There is plenty to unpack from his articles, but here's what I took from them today:
- I should not create many Anki cards.
- I should create cards only when the knowledge is worth remembering — when it will be useful in the future.
- Cards should be emotional. They have to be connected to my interests, my projects, my life.
This gives me a different perspective on Anki. I already knew that copying someone else's cards doesn't work for me. I'm not connected to them. Today I decided to merge all my decks into one, as having many separate decks kept me anxious. I'm trying this new approach, and I'm curious where it will take me.
